39 | How to Create Effective Routines with The Habit Stacking Mom, Jess Przulj
Wednesday Jun 04, 2025
Wednesday Jun 04, 2025
In this episode, Yaritza welcomes Jessica Przulj, a stay-at-home mom of three girls and fellow podcaster based in Tennessee. Jessica shares her personal journey from salon owner to stay-at-home mom, discussing the challenges of losing her identity and the "mom guilt" that often accompanies this transition. She then dives into her passion: habit stacking, a technique she's adapted for overwhelmed mothers to reclaim their time and purpose.
Key Takeaways:
- Grieving the "Woman Before the Mother": Jessica candidly speaks about the struggle of transitioning from an independent business owner to a stay-at-home mom, and the sense of loss and resentment that can arise when a woman's previous identity shifts.
- The Birth of a Podcast: Jessica's podcast was born from her desire to help other moms who felt lost and overwhelmed, providing an outlet for her to share what she's learned about navigating motherhood while also seeking personal fulfillment.
- Habit Stacking for Moms: Jessica explains her approach to habit stacking, which she developed after reading James Clear's "Atomic Habits" and realizing its potential application for mothers. The core idea is to attach new, desired habits to existing, automatic routines (anchors).
- The Re-Stack Method: Assessing the Problem: The first step in Jessica's "Re-Stack Method" is an assessment. Moms need to identify where the problems lie in their day or week. She breaks life down into "5 Vital Pillars": schedule, home, food, self-care, and finance.
- Focus on the Schedule Pillar First: Jessica recommends starting with the schedule pillar, as it often dictates the rhythm of the entire day and can cause a "domino effect" on other areas.
- Outcome-Based Routine Blocks: To tackle overwhelming days (like the post-school rush), Jessica suggests breaking the day into routine blocks (morning, midday, evening) and defining a clear outcome or goal for each block.
- Defining Success: A routine is "working" when you can "stay the mother you want to stay in that moment" – calm, encouraging, and motivated, rather than stressed or frustrated.
- Prioritizing Self-Care: Jessica emphasizes the importance of prioritizing self-care, sharing her own recent shift to waking up before her children to exercise and get ready. This not only benefits her mindset but also sets a positive example for her daughters.
- Anchors: Anchors are predictable, automatic actions (e.g., letting the dog out) that can be used as triggers to attach new habit stacks, making them easier to implement.
- Test, Review, Adjust: The process of habit stacking involves continuous testing and review. Jessica conducts a weekly "stacking session" to assess what worked, what didn't, and make adjustments for the upcoming week, reinforcing the brain's natural desire for patterns.

All About Cecelia Curtis
Cecelia Curtis is a wife, boy mom, daughter, sister, and friend. Throughout her career, she has
worked in the corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors, but it’s her experiences as a
military spouse with a transient lifestyle that helped shape her thoughts and feelings about
friendship.
Cecelia is extremely passionate about friendship and extremely thankful for the friends she’s
made throughout her life - for the lifelong friends and the season-specific friends. And, as a
military spouse often far from home, her friends have become more like family.
About a year ago, Cecelia set out on a mission to reconnect with friends near and far to discuss
friendship-related topics such as authenticity, thoughtfulness, and forgiveness on her podcast,
The Friendship Tour. Along the way, she was reminded how powerful true friendship is and
how important these special relationships are, particularly for women.
Cecelia now discusses all things related to friendship, such as friendship tips for busy adults,
how to make friends as an introvert, chemistry in relationships, and so much more on weekly
episodes of The Friendship Tour. She does so with the hope that all women can create and
maintain relationships that help them feel connected to others, supported in times of need, and
bring them genuine joy in life.

Wednesday Apr 09, 2025
Wednesday Apr 09, 2025
In this episode, we dive into the importance of setting boundaries as a stay-at-home mom and how it can lead to a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life. As we grow through different seasons of life, it's crucial to recognize that growth doesn’t stop after “arriving” at certain milestones. We are meant to continue growing, especially as we raise our children. Setting boundaries is one of the most powerful ways to ensure that we thrive in our roles as wives, mothers, and individuals.
Join me as we explore:
- What boundaries are and why they are essential for your emotional and mental well-being.
- How setting healthy boundaries can help you lead by example and teach your children the importance of respect and independence.
- Practical ways to set boundaries with your kids and yourself to reclaim your time and energy.
- The powerful role of boundaries in fostering your spiritual growth, as we look at biblical wisdom on boundaries from Psalms 23.
- How to establish routines that support your personal needs, like waking up before your kids or encouraging your children to have their own quiet time.
I’ll also share actionable steps that will help you implement boundaries with your family and take back control of your day-to-day life. Remember, boundaries aren’t just about saying “no” to others – they’re about saying “yes” to yourself and your growth.
Whether you're overwhelmed or looking for a boost to prioritize your well-being, this episode is for you! Let's work together to set healthy boundaries that help you flourish.

Yaritza
